When he retired from promoting, Rudy Kay & Al Zink started up
In 1976, Bobby Kay & Leo Burke bought out Rudy Kay, (who wanted to get out of the promoting side of the business), but Al Zinc refused to sell his half. In 1977, the 2 sides split.
Bobby Kay & Leo Burke started TRANS-CANADA WRESTLING
while Al Zinc started INTERNATIONAL WRESTLING
Unfortunately, TCW had no TV deal; and IW had all relatively unknown, (in the Maritimes), American wrestlers. These factors led to both promotions closing their doors after only 1 season. This opened the door for Emile Dupree to scoop up all of the wrestlers & a TV deal. In 1978 he started up the most famous & longest running promotion that the Maritimes had even seen. It was called
International Wrestling tried to run against AGPW again in 1984 for 1 season, as well as a few other promotions, like
